OPSC Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria
The OPSC Assistant Professor Eligibility Criteria are:
(I) The candidate must be a citizen of India;
(II) He/She must be of good mental condition and bodily health and free from any physical and mental defect likely to interfere with the discharge of his or her duties in the service.
(III) He/She must be able to read, write and speak Odia; and have –
(a) passed the Middle School Examination with Odia as a language subject;
or
(b) passed Matriculation or equivalent examination with Odia as a medium of examination in the non-language subject; or
(c) passed in Odia as a language subject in the final examination of Class VII from a School or Educational Institution recognised by the Government of Odisha or the Central Government; or
(d) Passed a test in Odia in Middle English School Standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department of the Government of Odisha / Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.
(IV) A candidate who has more than one spouse living will not be eligible for appointment unless the State Government has exempted his/her case from the operation of this limitation for any good and sufficient reasons;
(V) Government servants, whether temporary or permanent, are eligible to apply, provided they possess the requisite qualifications and are within the prescribed age limit as provided under Para-3 & Para-4 of the Advertisement, respectively. They must inform their respective Heads of the Office in writing regarding the submission of their application for this recruitment and furnish a “No Objection Certificate” during document verification. So the candidates must obtain a NOC well in advance.
(VI) If a candidate has at any time, been debarred for a certain period/chance(s) by the Odisha Public Service Commission or other State Public Service Commission or U.P.S.C. from appearing at any examination/viva voce test, he/she will not be eligible to apply for that specified period/chance (s);
(VII) Only those candidates who possess the requisite qualifications, are within the prescribed age limit and fulfil other eligibility conditions strictly as per the closing date for submission of the registered online application form will be considered eligible;
(VIII) Every candidate selected for appointment shall be examined by the Medical Board. A candidate who does not satisfy the requirement after medical examination shall not be appointed to the service.
(IX) A candidate who claims a change in his/her name after having passed the H.S.C. examination, is required to furnish a copy of the publication of the changed name in the local leading daily newspaper as well as a copy of notification in the Gazette in support of his/her change of name;
(X) Before appointment, a candidate must register himself/herself under the Odisha Medical Registration Act, 1961.

Aspiring Candidates are requested to fulfil these Educational Qualifications:
- The candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in the concerned Broad Speciality or any other equivalent degree or qualification prescribed by the MCI/NMC from time to time.
The candidate must:
(a) Have acquired a Post Graduate Degree in the concerned Broad Speciality or any other equivalent degree or qualification prescribed by the MCI/NMC from time to time.
(b) Those candidates who have undergone Diplomate National Board training in the concerned subjects are also eligible for the post of Assistant Professor, subject to fulfilling any other criteria regarding Diplomate National Board, prescribed by MCI/NMC from time to time in force.
(c) The candidates who are already appointed as Assistant Professors in a Medical College without experience as SR as per previous guidelines before 08.06.2017 shall not require one year of experience as an SR for applying for an Assistant Professor position in another Medical College.
(d) The candidates who are already working as Asst. Professors, before 08.06.2017 to undergo the SR ship are exempted from the teaching experience requirement of one year in the concerned subject.
