MPPSC Assistant Professor Educational Qualification

To confirm their position as MPPSC Assistant Professor, Aspiring Candidates are requested to fulfil these Educational Qualifications:

  • (i) Post Graduate/Principal Degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade on a point scale wherever grading system is applicable) in relevant/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University for Arts, Commerce, Humanities, Law, Social Sciences, Science Languages, Disciplines or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.
  • (ii) In addition to fulfilling the above eligibility criteria, candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission or CSIR or its equivalent test accredited by UGC, such as SLET/SET, etc.

Note: Only the candidates who clear the SET exam conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Government will be eligible; SLET/SET-clearing candidates from other States will not be eligible.

  • (iii) Notwithstanding anything stated in sub-sections (i) and (ii) above, candidates who are not accredited by UGC will not be eligible for admission to the University. Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree by the Regulations- 2009 or by such regulations as may be notified by the University Grants Commission later. (Minimum Standards and Procedure for award of PhD) Such candidates will be exempted from the mandatory eligibility conditions of NET/SLET/SET prescribed for recruitment and appointments of Assistant Professors or equivalent positions in Universities and Colleges. However, the award of degrees to candidates registered for M.Phil./Ph.D. courses before 11th July 2009 will be governed by the provisions of the then Ordinances/Bye-laws/Regulations of the Institute awarding the degree and the Ph.D. Degree holders candidates are exempted from the requirement of minimum eligibility conditions of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment to the post of Assistant Professor or equivalent in Universities/Colleges/Institutions, subject to fulfilling the following conditions:

(a) The PhD degree should have been awarded to the candidate only through the regular mode.

(b) The Ph.D. thesis should have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.

(c) An open viva voce examination of the candidate for a Ph.D. should have been conducted.

(d) The candidate should have published two research papers from his/her PhD work, out of which at least one should have been published in a refereed journal.

(e) The candidate should have obtained accreditation from UGC/ICSSR/CSIR. Or have presented at least two papers based on their PhD work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/aided by any such agency. The above (a) to (d) should be certified by the Vice Chancellor/Pro Vice Chancellor/Dean (Academic Affairs)/Dean (University Teaching).

Note: It has been clarified by the letter No. F 1-118/2012/38-1, dated 05 December 2017 of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Higher Education Department that the qualification as above will also be valid for the degree of candidates registered before 11 July 2009 and obtained PhD till the date of implementation of the regulations after 11 July 2009. In this context, the certificate issued by the University will be valid.

  • (iv) NET/SLET/SET will not be mandatory for subjects in which similar postgraduate programmes are not conducted for NET/SLET/SET.
  • (v) As per clause 3.4(1) of UGC Gazette Publication Notification dated 18th July 2018 and Gazette of Department of Social Justice and Disabled Welfare dated 21st November 2022, for eligibility for direct recruitment and assessment of better academic record, relaxation of 05% will be provided at postgraduate level to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (OBC)/Disabled

(a) Visually Impaired and Low Vision,

(b) Deaf and Hard of Hearing

(c) Loco Motor Disability including Cervical Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Acid Attack Victims, Muscular Dystrophy. 05% relaxation in qualifying marks is admissible for the above-mentioned categories based on 55% eligibility marks (or equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed and including concession marks procedure, if any.

  • (vi) Also, such Ph.D. holders who have obtained their postgraduate degree before 19th September 1991, may be provided 5% relaxation in marks, from 55% to 50%. Note: 01 In all advertised subjects, NET/SLET examination either in the name of the core subject or the examination conducted by UGC in the relevant subject will be considered, details of which have been made available in order No. F1-118/2012/38-1 dated 15/11/2017 of the Higher Education Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. 02 Information is available regarding the co-subjects related to the subjects advertised by the order of the Madhya Pradesh Government Higher Education Department No. F 1/1/0081/2022 Sec-1-38, dated 22.12.2022.

(1) Co-subjects of the subjects mentioned in column (2) are given in column (3), and candidates related to the subjects in column (3) can apply for the subjects mentioned in column (2).

(2) Such candidates who have the qualification of a postgraduate degree in co-subjects of more than one subject will be eligible to join the vacant posts of any one main subject.

(3) The examination will be conducted on the main subject only.
